Defy Extreme wood stain gives hope for a badly neglected deck.
Our large deck (800+ sq. ft) was on it’s last leg. The wood was starting to crack, was extremely dry and lifeless. After doing LOTS of on line research, we decided on this product. Last August 2015 we used the butternut color, as I wanted to avoid the “orangey” tint a lot of stains have. The wood was so dry that the first coat went on and was absorb immediately, very thirsty, indeed. The second coat went on just as easily, and a lot quicker. I did notice that you have to apply this product as recommended, wet on wet. If you don’t, you will notice that the second coat beads up on the first coat, and that’s difficult to remedy. Because of the poor condition of the wood, we had to replace pieces here and there, and after 2 coats, the new wood matched the old. The color seems to be holding and there is absolutely no peeling or fading. The color is stunning, a little darker than I had planned, but overall, I’m very pleased with the results. The wood doesn’t seem to bead up after a rain as it did earlier, so I might use the last gallon I had and spray it on the floor, will call the company first to see if this is advisable.
