After installing Trex composite decking in Florida, I discovered mold spots and fading occuring within a short time after installation.(a common cmplaint) I decided to try Defy Extreme sealer stain to solve this problem. Trex has some porosity and it is made from plastic and wood flour. The results have been excellent. It doesn’t absorb much, but a wet coat is all thats needed, just wipe on and your done. It solved the mold spot problem and resits staining and reduced the fading from the intense Florida sun. I reapplied Defy Extreme 1 year later to brighten the deck and it appears new. It is water thin, thus does not build up and as far as I can see, there is nothing to peel as your really not applying a coating. The epoxy water base formulation is impossible to remove, once dried. I don’t know if a yearly application will continue to be needed.
